Contributor Rewards & Support
When you contribute to nexu, we want it to be more than just "PR merged" — it also means:
- Every sincere effort you make is seen
- Your contribution doesn't just live in the merge history
- Your growth is continuously recorded and accumulated
- You feel welcomed even on your first contribution
What Support We Provide
For good-first-issue and first-time contributors, we try to provide:
- Clearer task scope: We break tasks into small, clear, verifiable pieces
- More specific review feedback: If changes are needed, we explain why and suggest direction
- First-time contribution guidance: We provide necessary context and advice for newcomers
- Public appreciation & points: After merge, you enter the contributor appreciation and points flow

Where Your Contributions Are Displayed
When your contribution is merged, it will be shown in these places:
- GitHub README: Contributor display with daily, monthly, and all-time leaderboards
- Discord Start your first Nexu PR: Bot auto-publishes leaderboard updates
Current Points System
Points are based on the Issue label, keeping it simple and clear:
| Issue Label | Points | Equivalent Value |
|---|---|---|
help wanted | 2,000 | ≈ $20 USD nexu usage credits |
good first issue | 500 | ≈ $5 USD nexu usage credits |
| Other (no label above) | 500 | ≈ $5 USD nexu usage credits |
How Points Are Awarded
- Contributor submits a PR linked to the corresponding Issue
- The dev team reviews the PR for code quality and completeness
- After the PR is merged, the team confirms and awards points to your account
Points are awarded only after the dev team has reviewed and merged your PR. The team reserves the final right of interpretation on point awards.
What Can You Do with Points
Points can be directly redeemed for nexu product usage credits, and also serve as proof of your community contributions:
- Points = real product usage credits — contribute and get rewarded
- First-time contributors receive clear positive feedback
- Long-term contributors build visible identity in the community
- Point records become part of your open-source contribution resume
